THE FORCE OF FAVOUR-Zwedru, Liberia Mission Report

MISSION TO ZWEDRU CITY, LIBERIA

Apostle David Olatona was on mission to Liberia from Wednesday 3rd – Sunday 7th May 2017; for a Destiny Connection Summit @ Jireh International Faith Mission Ministries, Jensenville, Zwedru City. It was a collaboration of David Olatona Global Outreach (DOGO) and Full Gospel Fellowship, Zwedru. The flight from Lagos to Monrovia, with a stopover at Accra was smooth. Rev. Olayinka Adesegha drove the team to the Golden Gate Hotel Monrovia were we lodged for the night to continue our journey to Zwedru the following morning. Zwedru is more than 200km from Monrovia; and two third of the road is unpaved and very bad. So a journey that should have taken about four hours became an eight hours journey. And we had the providence of God to thank for even arriving that early. He connected us miraculously with an NGO which has a brand new Toyota Land Cruiser Jeep. Otherwise we would have slept on the road. As it turned out, we arrived at about 7:30pm with our baggage straight to the meeting and a very anxious congregation.

Stirring Expectation

All the servant of God could do was give a short but powerful word on what the people should expect. He spoke from Luke 1:28; “And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, [thou that art] highly favored, the Lord [is] with thee: blessed [art] thou among women” He pointed out to them the following points.

  • Mary was not the only virgin woman in Israel.
  • But the high favor of God distinguished her among women.
  • And she became blessed among women.
  • Among the favored (qualified) you can become highly favored.
  • That is the kind of favor God has planned to put upon you.

It took just ten minutes; but there was an explosion; and you could see that the expectation of the people was highly stirred up. We eventually settled in our hotel room at about 9pm Thursday 4th May.

FRIDAY FIRST SESSION

There were two sessions on Friday: 9:00am – 1:00pm; and 5:00 – 8:00pm. During the first session Apostle David Olatona spoke on the “Force of Favor”; still anchoring in Luke I: 28.

The angel came from God to announce favor to Mary. We can get a sense of how the favor of God works even in the way God dealt with the first man Adam to give him a wife (Gen. 2:18-25). Remember that Proverbs 8:22 says; “He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and OBTAINS FAVOR from the Lord”. So it is the favor of God at work in a marriage if God is allowed to have His way. When He gave Adam a wife God was doing all the thinking and all the speaking; and He turned it to an manifest favor by giving him a wife. When Adam saw her he said wow! This is good. Adam didn’t do any work.

  • A life without favor is full of labor and frustration.

WHAT THEN IS FAVOR?

  • It is God thinking good about you.
  • It is God saying good about you.
  • And it is God acting good towards you.
  • Favor is grace shown to you; it is not the reward of your labor or work.
  • Favor is God’s kindness shown to you.
  • Favor is God’s help sent to you.
  • Or a helper from God to you.
  • Favor is the distinguishing mark of God upon a man or woman.

ANOTHER OUTSTANDING EXAMPLE OF FAVOR AT WORK

You can find the details in 2 Sam. 9:1-10 where David decided to show kindness to Mephibosheth for the sake of his father Jonathan. “And DAVID SAID, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may SHOW HIM KINDNESS for JONATHAN’S SAKE?” (2 Sam. 9:1). Take note that this favor was for Jonathan’s sake; not because of anything Mephibosheth had done. There was a covenant of favor or blessing, or you can call it an oath, between David and Jonathan (see 1 Sam. 20:41-42). Jonathan did the work that brought favor upon Mephibosheth.

  • Favor is a covenant driven force. Somebody has paid the price. You come in later, through your relationship with the one who paid the price; to enjoy the favor because the covenant has qualified you for it.
  • When the covenant qualifies you for favor no man, no circumstances or any other condition can disqualify you.

GOD HAS QUALIFIED YOU FOR FAVOUR

You must understand that just like Mephibosheth, there is a covenant between God the Father and God the Son that has qualified you to receive favor right now. Jesus has paid the price for you to enjoy favor. It is not what you have done or what you will do; it is what has been done before. It is the favor you receive that determines what you can do for God. The covenant speaks favor. God has signed a covenant with His Son to bless you; to heal you; and to prosper you. He is not in the business of killing you; making you sick or poor. God has to be for you first before any man can be for you. God is for you means that you are in favor with God.

FAVOR COVERS YOUR WEAKNESS AND EXPOSES YOUR STRENGTH. It was so for Mephibosheth who was lame in both feet. The force of favor was able to overcome the strong aversion of David for the lame. Lameness could not disqualify him from favor.

FAVOR WILL BRING YOU OUT OF THE PLACE OF SUFFERING AS IT DID FOR MEPHIBOSHETH. “And the king said unto him, Where [is] he? And Ziba said unto the king, Behold, he [is] in the house of MACHIR, the son of AMMIEL, in LODEBAR” (2 Samuel 9:4). The man was not only lame; but he was living among a battered and beaten people (that is the meaning of Machir); in a place of no pasture, a town of forgotten people, Lodebar. And his name was connected to shame. Look at the odds that favor overcame for him. God brought him out from Lodebar to Jerusalem. You have suffered enough. God is bringing you out.

  • He will remember you as He remembered Mephibosheth
  • FAVOR WILL CHANGE YOUR POSITION. It will change your status.
  • FAVOR WILL BRING COMPLETE RESTORATION TO YOU.Mephibosheth fell on his face before David. When you know where favor took you from you will remain humble. Favor and pride cannot meet. The favor of God is far from the proud. They don’t need God. They can’t give God the glory that is due to Him alone. This session was a great eye opener; a mind cleaner, if you like. It perfectly positioned the people for the impartation that came in the evening session.

SECOND SESSION

The second Session was an explosive prophetic one. Apostle David Olatona actually declared that he will be speaking on “Seven Prophetic Word of Favor”. But he could only stop at three before there was a spark.

  1. Favor means promotion. That means God is stepping you up; it means advancement and elevation.
  2. Favor means restoration.
  3. Favor means honor.

When man promotes you the same man can demote you; but when God promotes you no man, no devil can demote you. When God decides to honor you even your most fierce enemy will honor you. And when God decides to restore you even the devil must pay back seven-fold. God will restore your health and completely turn your captivity; so that you can rejoice and give thanks (Jer. 30:17-20). It is all by His favor. When God decided to promote Joseph he was just thirty years old. Nobody could bring him down for eighty years. He died at the age of one hundred and ten. For eighty years his word was law in Egypt. It was Portiphar who promoted him in his house who also demoted him to prison. But God promoted him from prison to the palace. Even his bones enjoyed the rare honor of entering the Promised Land. God said; “And I WILL RESTORE to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpillar, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you” (Joel 2:25). It is because it is the set time for favor.

STIR UP THE FAVOR OF GOD

You are already favored. Jesus has already declared every year a year of favor for you, child of God (Luke 4:19). Learn to stir up this favor. It takes the stirring up of the favor of God to overcome adversaries and adversity; competitions and opposition. It takes the stirring up of favor to manifest your status of distinction. You stir up favor when you pray. You do it when you give. You do it when you fast. You do it when you praise God. Mordecai and Esther knew how to stir up the favor of God upon their lives. The wicked Haman could not handle them. He became the instrument of their promotion to his own destruction.

“CRAZY PRAISE”

When Haman decided to exterminate all the Jews in the kingdom of King Ahasuerus (Esther chapter 6), Esther understood that the favor of God was already upon her. It was favor that gave her an uncle like Mordecai as a mentor; it was favor that made her Queen in the place of Vashti. Even among so many other beautiful virgins the king chose her. She decided to stir up that favor again in the face of the evil agenda of Haman. She did three things.

  1. She called for a three days fast.
  2. She called for a three days prayer.
  3. She came before the king in her royal apparel.

The Royal apparel is a symbol of praise. Praise is beautiful on the saints. God cannot resist it when we come to Him clothed in praise. His favor will be released. Ever before Esther asked for anything, the king offered her half of his kingdom just for the asking. He was so pleased with her. With this the people were instructed to go into a session of “crazy praise”. The place went wild in a glorious praise and dancing for the King of kings and the Lord of Lords. There was a release!

SKILL EMPOWERMENT SESSIONS

Saturday 6th (from 9:00am – 2:00pm) was used for the Skill Empowerment. About seventy (70) people benefitted. Participants were taught how to make five (5) home-use chemical products.

  1. Liquid Soap
  2. Vaseline & Hair Cream
  3. Germicide (Izal)
  4. Disinfectant (Dettol)
  5. Air Freshener

The sessions were facilitated by Sister Evelyn of the Jubilee church Ganta, which is about a hundred kilometres from Zwedru City. Sister Evelyn is one of Apostle David Olatona’s protégé. She had benefitted from earlier training sessions during four mission visits to Ganta. David Olatona was inspired to send for her at about 12:00noon on Friday. She hit the road at about 2:00pm with the fresh chemical purchased; but she did not arrive in Zwedru until 12:10am midnight. To God be the glory for a very successful and impactful mission. We expect testimonies in the name of Jesus. Thank God for His grace upon His servant Apostle David Olatona.
