POWER OF YOUR WORDS (I) – GOD SAID

James 3: 2, 5 – “For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body… even so the tongue is a little member, and boasts great things. Behold how great a matter a little fire kindles… Out of the same mouth proceeds blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not so to be.”

There is no perfect man on earth – one, who has not used his tongue wrongly, one who can control his tongue thereby controlling his entire body and life – there is no such man in the world. The tongue is the smallest part of the body that can set fire to the rest parts of the body – ability to hold your tongue will hold your destiny! Being in control of your tongue keeps you in control of your life!

From the mouth comes blessings and curses; death and life – troubles in our lives comes because we use our tongues incorrectly.

Prov. 18: 20, 21 – “A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”

Words spoken today, decades ago or seconds ago determine what you are enjoying and enduring! You should speak what you want to see and experience – there will be a difference between what you want to see and what you are experiencing if you are not speaking what you want to see! YOU EAT THE FRUITS OF THE WORDS YOU SPEAK – Use your tongue to your advantage! And the way to use the tongue to speak life is when you think good thoughts – there is nothing you speak that you have not thought about in your mind! You fill your heart with what you read, hear and see!

THE PERFECT EXAMPLE: GOD!

Gen. 1: 1, 2 – “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved on the face of the waters.”

Using God as an example, God changed the circumstance of the earth He created and the challenge He was facing with His creation by the words of His mouth! In vs. 3, it says “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.” The Spirit of God was already moving on the face of the waters (vs. 2), it was waiting for the word from God, and immediately GOD SAID, the Spirit began to work! This means that the Spirit is always waiting for the word to make things start to work! In nine different verses – vv. 3, 6, 9, 11, 14, 20, 24, 26 and 29 – God spoke; and He didn’t speak His experience, He spoke His expectation! We should never speak what is wrong – instead in the midst of everything that is wrong, we must speak what we want to see and change! There is nothing in this life – including in your physical body – that cannot be turned around by your words! God did it, and so can you!

After God said, then God saw (vv. 4, 10b, 12b, 18b, 21b, 25b, 31) – what you keep saying is what you will see – not just in your head, but what you believe in your heart and speak with your mouth is what will bring your salvation! Confessing the positive things is God’s way of changing things – He decided to create man in His own image and likeness – man that will look like Him, who will act like Him; men that would say no to failure and defeat and use the words of God inside of them to change their situation! God brought the animals to man and asked him to name them – the names Adam called them was it; there was no questioning the names man gave the animals – meaning the same Spirit that was on the face of the earth when God spoke is the same Spirit on the face of the earth when man spoke! God breathed His Spirit into man so that we can function like Him! What more conviction do we need that our words mean something – we should make up our minds to speak life and positivity! Stop saying what you are seeing, declare what you want to see! When God changed Abraham’s name to “father of nations”, people must have made a fool of him because at that time in his life, he did not have one son, but today he is indeed the father of nations!

Prov. 22: 18, 19 – “For it is a pleasant thing if you keep them within you; they shall with be fitted in your lips. That your trust may be in the LORD, I have made known to you this day, even to you.”

What you store in your heart is what your lips will speak and use in the days of trouble! What you give your attention to that will produce fruits for you! Joshua 1: 8 – give your attention to the word of God and apply your heart to the knowledge of the word of God! Fill your heart with God’s word so it can proceed out of your mouth when you need it; because KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED WILL ONE DAY BE REQUIRED!

Speak the words of your Creator because everything around you has ears – the wind has ears, the trees and leaves have ears, and when they hear the words of their Creator, they will listen!

Isa. 58: 13 – “If you turn away your foot from the sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honorable; and shall honor him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words.” GOD EXPECTS YOU TO HAVE DOMINION WITH HIS WORDS IN YOUR MOUTH! The devil will not be afraid of your own words, but He will back off when you speak God’s words with your mouth! Your circumstance will yield when you speak the words of God; in God’s name even demons come subjection (Luke 10: 17, 18). In God’s name, we are men and women who have been given power and authority to deal with our situations and circumstances with His words!

Psa. 17: 4 – “Concerning the works of men, by the word of your lips I have kept me from the paths of the destroyer.” What keeps us from the paths of the destroyer is God’s word on our lips!

As we begin this series, I pray that we receive grace from above to teach our tongues to only speak positive things to our situation, in Jesus’ name! AMEN
