GOD’S FORMULA FOR SUCCESS IN LIFE (VII): THE GOD FACTOR

Don’t ever forget, as a child of God, that God wants you to prosper, succeed and thrive – say it to yourself every day, because there is power in confession.

To do a recap of the formulas for godly success that we have been learning about for the past weeks;

  • The first formula is to DISCOVER YOUR PERSONAL ASSIGNMENT. You cannot fully succeed if you do not discover your purpose, strength and the things God has deposited inside of you!
  • The second formula is to BE A HARD WORKER. It is not enough to know what your gifts are; gifts, in themselves are not enough, we must work hard at growing them. There is no success without work!
  • The third formula is to get result from the purpose we have discovered, and are working hard at by BUILDING COURAGE, FAITH AND CONFIDENCE.
  • The fourth formula is to ACQUIRE KNOWLEDGE. Develop the gifts and skills you have discovered, this will help your purpose! Undergo training, go to seminars, read books, learn and keep learning! If your gift is not reaching you or changing you, it cannot reach or change others!
  • The fifth formula is MENTORSHIP. Wherever you want to get to in life, someone is already there, learn from them!
  • The sixth formula is EXCELLENCE. Whatever you find yourself doing, do it well!

Today, and finally on this series, we are going to be learning about the most important formula – THE GOD FACTOR – the presence of God in all that we do!

We need God in our lives, more than He needs us! Moses made it clear in Exo. 33: 12-14

“And Moses said unto Jehovah, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found favor in my sight. Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found favor in thy sight, show me now thy ways, that I may know thee, to the end that I may find favor in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people. And he said, my presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.”

Moses asked God who He would send with him on the journey before him.

A very important thing in life is who is going with you on your life’s journey. It is better to be with one man that has God’s presence than to go with a thousand men that do not have God’s presence!

God promised Moses that His presence would go with him; and that He would give him rest! This is what makes the difference! The presence of God gives you rest – meaning, you will be comfortable and no matter what you face on the way, you will still have peace! If God is not with us, we are doomed! God’s presence gives comfort; even in the prison! Peter was in prison in Acts 12, yet he was sleeping – because God was with him! You can be in a shipwreck like Paul and know your life will not be lost! The disciples and Jesus were in a storm, but Jesus was sleeping, because His Father’s rest was with Him! The presence of God gives quiet rest! Your access to the presence of God makes your walk in life different! Your connection with Him makes all the difference!

PEOPLE IN THE BIBLE WHOSE LIVES MADE A DIFFERENCE BECAUSE THEY HAD GOD’S PRESENCE

ABRAHAM. Gen. 21: 22 – And it came to pass at that time, that Abimelech and Phichol the chief captain of his host spake unto Abraham, saying, God is with thee in all that thou doest.” WHEN GOD IS WITH YOU, HE IS IN ALL THAT YOU DO!

JOSHUA. Joshua 1: 5, 6 – “There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.” WHEN GOD IS WITH YOU, NOBODY CAN STAND AGAINST YOU! GOD DOES NOT ABANDON HIS OWN!

GIDEON. Judges 6: 12-14 – “And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him, and said unto him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valour. And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites. And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?” Gideon was a vagabond, he was the least in his family, but God was with him even when he did not know it! WHEN GOD IS WITH YOU, YOU BECOME VICTORIOUS OVER YOUR ENEMIES.

JEREMIAH. Jer. 15: 20 – “And I will make thee unto this people a fenced brasen wall: and they shall fight against thee, but they shall not prevail against thee: for I am  with thee to save thee and to deliver thee, saith the LORD.” WHEN GOD IS WITH YOU, NOTHING OR NO ONE CAN PREVAIL AGAINST YOU!

ISAIAH. Isa. 43: 2 – “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.” WHEN GOD IS WITH YOU, NOTHING DROWNS OR BURNS YOU; NATURE ANSWERS TO HIM, AND NONE WILL WORK AGAINST YOU!

The secret behind these men’s successes was God’s presence and spirit that was with them! His presence followed them, and it gave them might, strength and courage! God’s presence is the master formula!

CONDITIONS BY WHICH TO GET AND MAINTAIN GOD’S PRESENCE

II Chron. 14: 11, 12; 15: 1-4 – “And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let not man prevail against thee. So the LORD smote the Ethiopians before Asa, and before Judah; and the Ethiopians fled… And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded: and he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; THE LORD IS WITH YOU, WHILE YE BE WITH HIM; and IF YE SEEK HIM, HE WILL BE FOUND OF YOU; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you. Now for a long season Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law. But WHEN THEY IN THEIR TROUBLE DID TURN UNTO THE LORD GOD OF ISRAEL, AND SOUGHT HIM, HE WAS FOUND OF THEM.

The secret to getting and maintaining God’s presence is to seek Him; if we seek Him, He will found with us; but when we forsake Him, He will forsake us! We should be like Moses – to not go anywhere if God would not go with us! We must continually seek God; only in seeking Him will we find Him to enable us do what we are supposed to do; only in seeking Him can we find blessings. We must see the need to seek God! His presence enables and blesses! It is not enough to run after our dreams and ambitions; we must run after and seek God!

I Sam. 2: 30 – “Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; FOR THEM THAT HONOUR ME I WILL HONOUR, AND THEY THAT DESPISE ME SHALL BE LIGHTLY ESTEEMED.”

There is danger in not seeking God! Those that despise Him will not be valued; those who despise God cannot escape His wrath, Pharaoh is an example!

In I Sam. 16, the Spirit of God that was with Saul had departed from him and transferred to David, because God had rejected Saul. Every day of our lives we are in a place, between where God’s presence is not (the Saul side) and where His presence is (the David side); we’re in the middle (the Jonathan side). Everything David did from the time God was with him worked; everything Saul was doing after God’s spirit left him began to go down; Jonathan saw the presence of God and what it did with and for David, and he was torn between choosing David (the next king) or his father who had now turned a failure and a tyrant – but eventually, he pitched his tent with his father. In I Sam. 31: 1-6, there was a war and everything turned awry, Saul and all his sons died in one day! Your ship cannot sail without God. Your camp cannot run without God. Your marriage cannot work without God. Your destiny cannot be fulfilled without God! It is better to pitch your tent where God is!

Make this confession today, “Father I receive Your presence today, I seek You again with all of my heart. I cannot do anything without You, I need you Lord in my life, marriage, destiny, ministry, business, health and finances; in every area of my life! I need you!”
