As a reminder from our previous lessons, God’s plans for us includes success only; He takes pleasure in us doing well and succeeding!

Joshua 1: 6, 7, 9 – “Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous… that thou mayest have good success whithersoever thou goest… Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”

God had to speak the same words to Joshua three times for emphasis; “be strong and courageous!”

Courage has to do with your faith, confidence, determination and daring acts.

Faith is complete confidence, belief, conviction in something or someone. You cannot succeed in something if you do not have faith in it! Whatever we do in life, it takes faith to make it work and succeed! Faith in yourself, dream, purpose and passion is very important.

Confidence is determination, full trust, boldness, assurance, fearlessness!

These three words are interchangeable; and are highly needed in our daily living – because almost on a daily basis, in the pursuit of our dreams, we will be confronted with things that will stir up fear and discouragement in us! Therefore we must be ready with our faith, courage and confidence handy!

“No dream looks beautiful or successful from the very beginning – every vision speaks at the end; and the end of varying visions differ – the end of some is closer than the other!”

“And the LORD answered me, and said, write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. FOR THE VISION IS YET FOR AN APPOINTED TIME, BUT AT THE END IT SHALL SPEAK, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. (Habakkuk 2: 2)”

If what you are pursuing is a God-given dream, it will speak at the end! There will be delays, giants and bumps on the way; but you CANNOT give up on your dream, passion and strength!

Mark 4: 26 – “And he said, “So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground; and should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how. For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear. But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.”

This is the scenario of life – everything you do about your vision and dream is like you’re scattering seed. What you put into the earth is what you get in return; if you don’t put prayers, you can get answers! It is the duty of the earth to produce after its kind; on the other hand, it is your duty to scatter the kind of seed you want produced!

Now, this is the order of growth which we must apply in our realities; even though the earth WILL bring forth fruit:

  • First, the blade will show. The blade is not the fruit! Many uproot their seeds because they are appalled that after all they have done, only drops and trickles is all they see and get; what they do not know is that the blade is only a sign that what they planted, and what they are doing is working! They become overcome with fear and discouragement and pull out their seed with their own hands and negative words!
  • Next is the ear. This shows progress. God is a progressive Person; He does things with gradual improvement! The ear is more than the blade, and it indicates reproductiveness!
  • Then finally, the fruit comes! What you have been waiting and praying for finally shows – delivered to you despite all you have gone through, because you had full trust in your vision and the seed that you planted!
  • Then the harvest stage! This is where you gather the consequence of your effort, and hard work! The growing season is come to an end, and it is time to gather your crop and yield!

To successfully go through these stages of growth and dream realization, one needs faith, courage and confidence to face whatever comes our way that will try to sway us from reaching the harvest level! Confidence makes you see the signs that things are working, and builds your strength towards more hard work!

Luke 13: 6 – “He spake also this parable: a certain man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit thereon, and found none. Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it: and if it bear fruit, well: and if not, then after that thou shalt cut it down.”

Whatever you do in three years and there is no single sign that it is working, is not worth it! Just like the fig tree in this text, it was taking the dressers’ time, energy and resources, and still no fruit – Jesus advised the dresser to cut it down! Anything that has reached the fruition stage but has not produced one fruit should be cut down! There is a difference between patience and sitting on one spot for four years – it’s either you stop and make a U-turn or stop and make a right or left turn!

Give your best to that purpose that is not barren! Pursue your vision with faith, confidence and courage. The vision that will stay with you for the rest of your life will show you evidence that you are walking on the right path; in other words, if what you are doing in life is what will take you through life, there will be signs along the way giving you joy and peace and the feeling of surety and security! When you get this kind of feeling, KEEP GOING!

Heb. 10: 23, 35-39 – “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith WITHOUT WAVERING; (for he is faithful that promised)… CAST NOT AWAY THEREFORE YOUR CONFIDENCE, which hath great recompence of reward. For YE HAVE NEED OF PATIENCE, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might RECEIVE THE PROMISE. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.”

Faith + Patience = Good Success

Let your eyes be on the finish line, do not draw back; do not be swayed by what you are seeing now! Success is possible, and succeed you will, in the name of Jesus! Your dream and desire will come to pass; your pursuit will not be in vain, the devil will not be able to stop you and your vision!
