Success is the favourable outcome of something attempted. It is the result of succeeding in one’s endeavours; it means to attain a desired result; to prosper! If you do not attempt, you cannot prosper or succeed; God told Joshua that wherever the sole of his feet will be given to him as a possession! To possess, you must first take action – to possess then is to succeed!
God has no plan of failure for us; III John 2 tells us of God’s desire for us – “Beloved, I pray that in all things thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” God’s thought towards us is that of success, good health and prosperity. Being flesh and blood though, we fail sometimes because of our inadequacies; we fall sick too but when we fall and fail, then we must fall back into God’s plans and promises for us. Jer. 29: 11 – “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you hope in your latter end.” No matter what anyone says or what we think, we must settle it in our minds that God is not behind our failure; God did not create, programme or design us for failure, rather He wired us to succeed! I want us to know and learn in the next few teachings on this topic that if we get the formula right, we will stop failing in the things we do, and everything we lay hands upon will produce success and positivity for us! The question now is WHAT IS GOD’S FORMULA TO SUCCESS? HOW DO I PRODUCE POSITIVE RESULTS IN ALL MY ENDEAVOURS?
Joshua 1: 6 – “Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.”
In this text, Moses had died and God needed Joshua to fill his shoes in leading His people to the land God had promised them – this was God’s assignment for Joshua! The first step and formula for success in life is to discover your assignment! There is a difference between your calling and your job; what you do is different from what you are cut out to do! What is your calling? What is your purpose? When God created the earth and the garden, and then Adam, He instructed Adam to tend to the garden.
Please note that before God gave Adam a wife, He first gave him an assignment!
I always tell young, single people that before you rush into marriage, discover your purpose, path and destination so that when your wife/husband comes he/she joins on your path and pursuit – find your path first, this helps determine who can join you on your journey!
God told Adam to “tend” and “keep” the garden! To tend is to care for, look after, keep an eye on, take under one’s wing, watch over; to keep is to hold, maintain, conserve, control etc. Like Adam, you need to find out what God has created you to control, conserve, nurse and minister to! What is it that God has created you to give your strength and passion to?! You are not created to watch over everything, you are here to take care of something! What is your assignment?
Jer. 1: 4, 5 – “Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.” God has ordained you to accomplish an assignment on the face of the earth even before you were born; therefore, there is need for you to take your time to find out what is written concerning you, and what was in God’s mind before He made you like He made you; because it is sweet to walk in the pathway of your God-given assignment!
Isa. 49: 1, 5 – “Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name… And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.”
There is strength and glory in walking in the path of God’s purpose for your life!
At one point in Joshua’s life, he was assisting; at another point, God showed him is assignment! You must let God show you your assignment! At 17, Joseph had a picture of his future; he had dreams and he could interpret them – at that young age, his gift already manifested, and so the assignment of interpreting the dreams his fellow prison mates had was not an issue! Jesus was found, at the young age of 12, in the synagogue asking and answering questions, minding His Father’s business! And even though because He was so young, and had to subject to His parents, He had discovered His purpose at that very young age!
There is no meaning to life until the discovery of oneself! You cannot enjoy peace until you find out what you are called to do! It takes a man who knows what he is called to do, to sleep in a storm! DISCOVERY IS POWER!
We are not all called out to do the same things; just like we are different, there are differences in our assignments! Everyone who wants to enjoy favourable outcomes in everything they lay their hands on must first discover their purpose!
If you need to pray, read, fast, separate yourself for a while, do what you need to do to discover your assignment! You are not here to just be among the number, you are more than a statistic; you are here to fix, keep and tend to something! God wants you to take something under your wings and oversee it – there is a garden for you; and this garden is not outside of you, it is inside of you.
Find your garden, and then you will find success and satisfaction!
